As the shorter days and colder temperatures arrive, we slowly take our beds out of cash crops, and plant winter cover crops. This year, we are doing a winter wheat and winter pea mix. Here are some pictures of these cover crops at various stages of growth:
One month old winter wheat
Two week old winter wheat
7 day old winter wheat
Finally, here are some pictures of some of our remaining vegetables that are thriving in this mild fall weather:
Lettuce mix
Full size heads of leaf lettuce
Romaine heads almost ready for harvest
And our final planting of carrots for the 2013 season
Just prior to taking these pictures, I harvested, washed, and bunched our last planting of French Breakfast radish. They are the best we’ve grown this season.
